Breakfast Club
The Breakfast Club is a new exclusive programme which was launched by GTFC Football in the Community over a year ago. The programme encourages activity prior to the school day. The programme teaches children how important exercise is before school and hopefully imprints a healthy lifestyle for now and the future.
The sessions are based on exercising, fitness and being active in fun ways, this is done by playing simple games. All games are fun based and enjoyable for the children involved.
During these games we work on generic ball skills such as throwing, catching and co-ordination which can then be used in team games and learning to work together. Prior to the arranged start date of the morning sessions, Football in the Community will come to the schools and fit the sessions within the schools national physical education outline. Football in the Community has been delivering the morning sessions at schools for nearly a year now. As we continue to run these sessions the attendance continues to rise and become more popular.
The session structure:
Exercise, Fitness and being active - Preparing children for the day
Fun based coaching through simple games
Sessions coincide with the Schools PE National Curriculum - Working on generic ball skills, i.e. Throwing, Catching and co-ordination.
Encouraging team work, helping children to learn to work together.
