After School Clubs
Grimsby Town Football in the Community, have been running after school football clubs at local schools for the last 15 years. Our aim is to provide safe and enjoyable training sessions, whilst promoting the good name of Grimsby Town Football Club.
With greater emphasis being placed on physical exercise within the National Curriculum and the growing concern about the fitness of today's children within society, Grimsby Towns Football in the Community after school programme is an ideal opportunity for schools to provide children with quality coaching, exercise, encouragement, motivation and most importantly fun and enjoyment.
All Grimsby Town Football in the Community events are open to boys and girls, of all abilities. We find it very rewarding to help and improve young children's footballing skills and confidence. We have found over the years that local talent can be discovered at after school clubs and we have recommended many youngsters to the School of Excellence programme. Youngsters such as Peter Bore, Andy Taylor and Danny North had their talents noticed during school football and are now making names for themselves in the first team at Grimsby Town.
To encourage children to work hard within the session we use a reward scheme to try and get the best out of the children. We offer a 'player of the day' for every session. To win this the child must work hard, act sensibly and show a good attitude throughout the session. The player of the day receives a letter which entitles them to two tickets to a selected Grimsby Town match. One for the child and a second for an accompanying adult.
